Jan Wins Parts Plus ROC 100 at
Oswego Leaty continued his recent dominance of the Bud Classic event, winning for the third time in the last four years. The victory propelled him from 6th to finish 3rd in the regular season ROC points. That coupled with his win in the first ROC championship race at Spencer Speedway three weeks ago, Jan now is in the runner up position in the ROC Championship Series with two races left to go. F. Patrick Kehoe, President and CEO of primary team sponsor Pace Electronics, was on hand for the race and gladly participated in the victory lane festivities. "I could tell Jan was fast in the heat race, and I knew we could challenge for the win," beamed Pat; "it is always a thrill to see a Pace car in victory lane!" 27 modifieds were on hand for qualifying; Jan started 7th and finished 2nd in his heat race. During the redraw of the top 12 qualifiers for feature starting positions, Jan drew the 4th starting position. Next up for the Branich team will be the 59th Annual Race of Champions Weekend at Oswego Speedway. With his victory at Spencer, Jan qualified for the first annual T.J. Toyota/Waite Toyota Modified All Star event to be held Saturday September 12th. The 16 drivers qualified for the showdown are winners of the regular season ROC races, as well as winners of other qualifying events in the Northeast. On Sunday, the team will be ready for the Race of Champions 200 on the 5/8th mile oval. Auburn (NY) Memorial Hospital wi ll sponsor the Branich effort during the Race of Champions Weekend. The team"s modified will be on display at the hospital on Friday September 11th from 10 AM to 2 PM.
